The Ghana Stock Exchange hosted this year’s “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” programme to celebrate International Women’s Day, on March 8, 2023, from 11.00am to 1.00pm at the GSE on the 6th Floor Cedi House, Accra.
In line with the theme, DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” GSE invited women who have made an impact with the use of Innovation and Technology on climate change and sustainability.
The keynote speaker, Ms. Ruka Sanusi, the Executive Director for Ghana Climate Innovation Centre, is an accomplished business executive with over 28 years in international consulting in gender, entrepreneurship, business transformation, and sustainability.
The panelists were Ms. Anaporka Adazabra, an entrepreneur in technology-based large scale commercial green farming; Ms. Amma Gyampo, a thought-leader and advocate for Entrepreneurship Development, Gender Equality, Climate, and Sustainable Production, and Ms. Dzifa Amegashie, a corporate finance professional with 25 years of experience in banking and finance across Africa, who played a key role in CalBank PLc’s solar energy program, Solar taxi, and E-Bikes projects to fight climate change.
Participants for this year included representatives from African Science Academy (the first African STEM focused all girl’s academy), Women from Kosmos Innovation Centre, Women in Finance and Investment, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Central Securities Depository, Ghana Securities Industry Association, and the media.
The event was graced by representatives of the global partners namely, Ms. Yewande Giwa, Senior Partnerships Officer of IFC, and Mr. Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director-UN Global Compact Network, Ghana, who both delivered goodwill messages.
The Deputy Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Deborah Mawuse Agyemfra led other invited guests to ring the bell on the floor of the Exchange to mark the occasion.
The Exchange recorded a total of 184 attendees made up of 70 participants in-person and 114 participants online.
